>> Artifacts at Xibaipo |
| The original site of the Central Committee of the CPC at Xibaipo was designated as a historical artifacts preservation site in 1956 by the Hebei provincial government. In 1958 the site was flooded due to the construction of Gangnan Dam. The village was moved to the hillside to the north of the village and restored to its original appearance in 1971. In 1982 the State Council designated Xibaipo as a site for national-level historical artifacts preservation.
In 1977 the construction of Xibaipo Memorial Museum, covering a 3,344 sq m area, was completed. On 26 May 1978, on the 30th anniversary commemorating the departure of Mao Tse-tung and the Party's Central Committee from Xibaipo, both the original site and the museum were open to the public.
The museum has so far collected almost 2,000 items (of which 140 items are rated as first-, second- and third-level artifacts). All these artifacts serve as a real-life depiction of the Chinese Communist Party during the Xibaipo period. Magnificently, exquisitely and candidly presentation, they signify the outstanding achievements and remarkable charisma of Mao Tse-tung and his fellow comrades as they endeavored to build a new China.
